Crowns & bridges

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that is custom-made for your smile. The crown is placed over a tooth to strengthen it or to enhance its colour or shape.

If injury or dental decay affects the integrity of your tooth structure, we may recommend a crown to protect your tooth. We also recommend them after root canals to provide strength to the treated area.

If a crown won’t be sufficient on its own, we may recommend a dental implant under the crown.

Before you get your custom crown, we need to prepare the area and make a mould for your new tooth.

During your first visit, we will file down your tooth structure, or place a dental implant. After making a mould for your new crown, we will give you a temporary crown to wear until we see you next.

Once your crown is ready, we will schedule you in for a second appointment to place your crown. We can adjust it as needed for a comfortable fit.

A dental bridge uses crowns or filler teeth to fill in the gap left by one or more missing teeth. If you don’t use a dental bridge, your nearby teeth can move into the empty space left by your missing ones and create bite problems.

Dental bridges can help you if you have one or more missing teeth. In order to be a candidate for a dental bridge, you need to have healthy teeth on either side of the missing ones. Otherwise, we may recommend dental implants instead.
