Composite bonding
Change the look of your smile in a single office visit with composite bonding. Our experienced dentists can easily change the shape and size of your teeth to give you a symmetrical look that is free of imperfections.
What is composite bonding?
Composite bonding is a dental procedure that is used to change the shape, colour, size or spacing of your teeth using composite resin. The resin can be colour-matched to your surrounding teeth so it is virtually unnoticeable to others.
How does composite bonding work?
Dental is a simple procedure that can usually be completed in under an hour. If used to fill a cavity, we can provide anaesthetic. Otherwise, dental bonding is a painless experience.
Your dentist will use a shade guide to match the composite resin to your enamel colour. Then they will prepare your tooth with a mild chemical solution to create a more secure bond for the resin. We don’t have to remove any enamel to do this.
Next, your dentist will apply the composite resin in layers and moulded into the desired shape. A curing light will then be used to harden the composite, and your tooth will be given a good polish to give it a smooth and natural-looking finish.
Who is composite bonding right for?
Depending on whether your dental needs are cosmetic or restorative, dental bonding can often be used as an alternative to veneers or crowns. Composite bonding is a great option for patients with:
- Small gaps
- Minor chips or cracks
- Misshapen teeth
- Stains that do not respond to whitening
- Slight misalignments
- Worn edges
- Disproportionately small teeth
